Yoorndoo Ilga Solar is a proposed 200-400MW (AC) utility scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage plant to integrate into the National Electricity Market through a 275kV connection to ElectraNet’s Cultana Substation in South Australia.

The site is situated approximately 10 kilometres north of Whyalla. The project is within the Barngarla Native Title determination area and the Local Government Area of the City of Whyalla.

Over the past several years EPS Energy, on behalf of Yoorndoo Ilga Solar, has been working with key stakeholders including the Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation (Barngarla) and the Australian Government Department of Defence.

In accordance with a competitive process approved by the State Government, EPS Energy and Barngarla have entered a Deed of Agreement to undertake an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) for the Project.

EPS Energy also holds conditional consent from Department of Defence for the approval of an electricity transmission line easement across Defence land into the substation.
